Dr. Barahman is a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in both New York and California. Her career is dedicated to the provision of compassionate and evidence-based psychological care to individuals across the lifespan. Dr. Barahman has experience working with diverse populations in various clinical settings, including hospitals, community mental health centers, and private practices. Her expertise extends to the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of psychological disorders, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, and relationship difficulties.
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Barahman serves as a Staff Psychologist in the Primary Care-Mental Health Integration Program at the VA San Diego Healthcare System, where she conducts comprehensive evaluations, provides behavioral consultations, and delivers evidence-based interventions to address the psychological concerns of veterans. She is also a member of the VA’s award-winning Reproductive Mental Health Program.
Dr. Barahman has previously worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a Senior EAP Consultant, offering support to healthcare workers, with specific focus on supporting graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, and physicians through individual therapy, crisis intervention, and psychoeducational workshops. There she served as a clinical consultant and liaison, advocating for early intervention and promoting emotional wellness. Dr. Barahman also actively engages in volunteering efforts, providing guidance on the creation and implementation of play therapy-based interventions and clinical supervision to doctoral practicum students who offer therapy to migrant refugees and asylum seekers at the US-Mexico border.
